about

''EARTH TALK''... as i've heard on this planet... we all have moments in our lives, in wich planet Earth tries to communicate with us in a very explicit way, using subtle messages. Those moments alert us for a constant awakenig , in wich we feel a integrant ,conscious and organic part of the breathening of this planet, and they inspire us to preserv with a maximum of love, respect and dedication, all the living forms of life, different cultures and spiritual languages that are manifesting on Earth. The music wich I composed for this concert/CD, reveals those moments, moments wich besides have been experienced by myself, in just very small things they are different from moments wich all other people have experimented, and , lots of times, by coincidence, in identical development stages of our destiny in life. Listen to the breathing of Earth, the Language of Earth, and let us become only One, a universal conscience , melting our senses in the air wich goes inside all of us, and reveals secrets, sounds and magic parfumes... ...The language of Earth as I have heard it
Pedro Madaleno
The music presented on ‘’Earth Talk’’, was written on the Summer of 2002.
Culturporto, a cultural foundation from Portugal, has comissioned this work to me, to present it at the 12th Porto Jazz Festival , in November of 2002.
I invited ,for the concert and for the CD, some of the most finest Jazz musicians from Germany, with whom I had the pleasure to play before.
Their participation in this work, has fulfilled my expectations, and even has exceeded my dreams. They were able to transmit the right mood and feeling for each piece, bringing freshness, inovation, through a very permissive , spontaneous and open interpretation that one can notice right on from the first played note.

My dear friend Wolfgang Fuhr ,from Koln, is a great tenor sax player , a veteran in the artistic scene in Germany, with a large curriculum and edited CD’s, with whom I played together since 1994, and more recently playing in his band in concerts in Leverkusen and Bonn.
His fresh sound, and his superb articulation, made him the perfect saxophonist for the music I wrote, which demands a vanguardist and at same time classical oriented sound, with Folk Music inspiration, somewhere between Sonny Rollins, Dewey Redman, Charles Loyd, Chris Potter and Joe Lovano…did anyone mentioned he needs a player with great interpretation tools and good theathretical drives?I present you mr. Fuhr!!

Dejan Terzic, from Nuremberg, is a astonishing player, a powerfull and exciting drummer, also great composer, which is one of the 3 most seeked drummers on the actual German scene. He works with Bob Berg, Paolo Fresu, Dusko Goykovic, Antonio Farao and the NDR Jazz Orchestra from Germany, just to mention a few artists…
He has collaborated with me on my first CD’’Fast Living” ,a record of electric Jazz moods and World Music, and in the present CD, he makes an excellent sideman job as well as a sculptor of beautiful spaces and landscapes.
His power of concentration and spontaneous creativity in rehearsals and concerts, is so big, that I will never have doubts to have him around for my futur works. He is an warranty if you want the music to have the right feeling, ambience and developed groove. He is a natural gifted talented guy!!!

Pepe Berns, from Berlin, is also one of the most working bass players in Germany.
Master of a very rich, full , expressive and powerfull sound, owns a natural creative instinct wich is perfectly suitable to my music. Ask David friedman, the well know Vibes and Marimba american musician, why does he choose Pepe to be in his band, and also ask Jasper Van’t Hof, and others, which known the colossal bass sound of this nice and funny man!
I met him first time, for this CD, but I count on him for the following works .You know, it’s difficult to have a bass player that plays only in the right places, and who knows how to fill the empty spaces a guitar trio usually is unable to fill. He was the ideal bass player to ‘’complete’’ the palette of colours I needed for this kind of ‘’visual’’ music I wrote.

I would like to mention too, that we spend a very very nice week doing the work for the concert and the CD. Music has been created with the maximum of freedom and good disposition, mixed up with some “ hanging in the night for a few drinks” moments, full of cheerful incidents, and intense hillarious chating, wich makes this the “Ideal Scene” for playing situations.
Thanks my dear friends!!!
